FAQs

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet. These points correspond to different organs and systems in the body, and stimulating them may help promote relaxation, balance, and overall well-being.

How is reflexology different from a regular foot massage?

Reflexology targets specific reflex points that link to internal body systems. A regular foot massage is more general and focused on muscle relaxation, while reflexology works on a deeper level to address specific concerns and encourage balance throughout the body.

What conditions can reflexology help with?

Reflexology is often used to support relief from stress, anxiety, tension headaches, hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, chronic pain, and sleep disturbances. It’s a complementary therapy and should not replace medical care.

What should I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable in! I’ll need access to your feet and lower calves, so just make sure you can easily remove your shoes and socks. Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal to help you relax during the session.

How long is a typical session?

Our first session will take approximately 75 minutes. This allows enough time to discuss your health history and set a clear intention for the treatment. Standard follow-up sessions last around 60 minutes, which includes time to check in before and after the reflexology treatment.

What do I need to prepare for a home visit?

I can perform your treatment while you relax on a sofa or armchair, as long as there is easy access to your feet — either with no armrest in the way, or if you’re happy to prop your feet up on one. Many clients enjoy receiving their treatment in bed, which is also an option as long as there’s no footboard and enough space at the end of the bed for me to work.

To make your session as comfortable and relaxing as possible, you might like to provide:

  • A selection of cushions to support you comfortably (especially helpful if you’re pregnant)

  • A blanket to keep yourself warm and cozy

  • Your favourite candle to create a calm atmosphere

What can I expect after a treatment?

After a reflexology session, you may feel deeply relaxed, more energised, or emotionally reflective — responses vary from person to person. As your body adjusts, you may feel tired or need the toilet more often. It's best to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol or heavy meals, and give yourself time to rest and let the treatment settle.

Is reflexology painful?

Most clients find it deeply relaxing. Some areas may feel slightly tender—this can indicate tension or imbalance in the corresponding part of the body—but discomfort is usually brief and manageable.

Is reflexology safe?

Yes, reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy and is generally safe for most people. However, I will not provide treatment if you currently have a contagious illness, a foot fungal infection or ulcer, a high fever or deep vein thrombosis (DVT). If you are conceiving through IVF, I recommend waiting until after implantation before beginning reflexology treatments.

Can I have reflexology during pregnancy?

Yes — I’m trained in maternity reflexology, and I’m happy to support clients at any stage of their journey. Reflexology can be helpful when trying to conceive by encouraging hormone balance, supporting menstrual health, and reducing stress. During pregnancy, it offers gentle, natural support for common symptoms such as morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, and emotional ups and downs. From 37 weeks onward, treatments can help prepare the body for birth, while also giving you valuable time to rest and reset. Reflexology is also deeply beneficial after birth, helping with hormone rebalancing and emotional wellbeing. Babies are very welcome at postnatal sessions — they can be fed, cuddled, or simply rest with you during the treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends on what you’re receiving treatment for. A one-off session is a wonderful way to relax and recharge, while monthly sessions can support ongoing stress management and enhance general wellbeing. If you're working with a specific condition, weekly or fortnightly sessions may be more appropriate, as the benefits of reflexology tend to build over time.

During pregnancy, I recommend monthly sessions throughout most of the pregnancy, then moving to fortnightly or even weekly treatments as you approach birth.

If you’re unsure what’s right for you, feel free to get in touch — I’d be happy to talk it through and help you find the best approach for your needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not attend your appointment, the full treatment fee will be charged. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
